Cherie Sampson’s work explores a decades-long practice of performative interactions with natural environments, using her body and found organic materials in-situ to create photographic and video art. Evolving from early drawing and sculptural assemblage into site-based performance, her work merges self-portraiture with an archetypal presence that blurs boundaries between human lived experience and the natural world. Created in landscapes ranging from the American Midwest to Scandinavia, her photomontages reveal cyclical time, continuity, and rupture, reflecting both environmental forces and personal interconnection with place.
